it is art fair time once again

and we start out strong

babies v and r bouncing along

and hoping all our wishes come true

wandering through the streets

seeing all the colors

and people

and dogs with hats

and statues that move

and twirly

and painty

and beautiful

shiny things

and dancers

swaying and bending

and smelling

the spicy kabobs

and licking

the sugar

off

the elephant ears

and

hearing

 drums booming

and

touching

all kinds of everything.

and then

it is time for a break

on the diag

a quiet oasis

right in the middle of it all

with a bottle and a blanket and a weary smile

IMG_1385

and with the hug of a tree

much bigger than me

and then

IMG_1387 you reach your limit

and you find

your very own

secret and happy place

and

your hopeful wish

is

to go home

once again.

timing has a lot to do with art.

  1. I love this flavorful and colorful post! Children need to have their escape routes mapped out, a blanket is a great place to hide out! Smiles, Robin

  2. Loved this post. Unfortunately all I can do is post about my books, but I’ll have some clay figurines in a couple of weeks. No real art festivals here in Hawaii, but maybe that is because all the islands are a work of art. Thanks for liking “Telephone Killer – 28″ on papermudandme.wordpress.com. – Thanks and Aloha – pjs/

  3. I felt as if I was there, as well, Beth. Leave to the precious children to be able to ‘escape’ however and with whatever they have. Love it! :) All the best. ~Karen~

      • Oh, so we’ve changed places. I’ve moved to Ann Arbor, and moved away, 3 separate times, I think the last move to Chicago sealed it. I like the big city too much. Plus I grew up on Lake MI, up north, and I missed it too much when I lived in AA.
