by day’s end

my three daughters

will be

on three different continents

africa, australia, america (north)

and i

will be

like the moon

quietly

looking over

each of them

with light

and pride.

You teach your daughters the diameters of the planets

and wonder when you are done that they do not delight in your company.

  1. This is my favorite by far. As a mom, my heart reaches out to you!
The picture Is perfect; because it doesn’t matter how far they are, does it?
My daughter is in the Coast Guard, and I haven’t gotten to see her in 7 months!
(She’s way on the East Coast. I can’t imagine if she were on a different continent!

Thanks for sharing. I needed that today. ~Marie :0)

  2. My only child, there we go he’s 40 and he’s still my child, lives in London. He has a severe deformity of the spine, yet works as a personal trainer. He lives in a rented room and spends most of his days in pain and I can do nothing for him, except send love and healing. So far away………

  3. I remember a time when my children were in three different states, and I thought that was amazing. You have me beat by a long shot. I love your poem and the picture.

Now I am the one living on a different continent from my children. It was never part of the plan, but the mother moon image sure does help. 🙂
