hard to tell from this shot
but these benches
were sitting
back to back
slanted at a downward angle
on the side of a hill.
is this a geometry puzzle?
is this a statement?
is this art?
is this science?
is this_______?

Or just a place to sit, if you are so “inclined”! 😃

Sometimes you need a break, even when things are “going down hill”!

They bear a small bronze marker that reads, “Placed in the loving memory of “Eileen”!

What intrigues me is that those two benches are expensive ones; so there MUST have been an idea behind it – or is the ground just falling away?

no, it’s definitely a real hill and they were placed that way. i agree, there must be and idea behind it all. hope i find out one day

Like the quote a lot, however! Tell that an American, they ALL CAN at all times, as it is only a matter of mind over matters…. 😉

and that’s me, but even i can’t figure out how to actually sit in them. maybe if you laid down on them, feet facing toward the bottom of the hill and braced yourself, but you’d still slide down. i’d love to solve the mystery –

Strange! If this is a place you walk to often, you’re going to have to see if it changes (and report back). I noticed a pair of rickety benches appeared one day in a spot overlooking the river. Perhaps park benches are just traveling the country. They travel at night when no one is around. . .

it’s just such an odd setup, it would be nearly impossible to sit in them, based on their downward slant on the side of a hill ). it’s the first time i’ve run across them, but they are in a park i visit, so i’ll try to find them again –

I hope they’re in a different position, and the mystery continues. 😏

yes, and on the side of a hill, sloping downward and probably unable to be used, unless i’m just not seeing it right

just the setting was amazing, it took me a minute to really notice and I just could not figure it out, but maybe that’s the point?

Strange indeed. Maybe it’s really a public art installation and no one can tell. LOL Or, maybe the benches are for people who refuse to admit they don’t like each other but hang out together.

I’m not sure either, but there’s a lot to think about with these benches. Are they for people who are angry with each other? Or do they just give a little bit of privacy for 2 strangers who happen to find them and want to sit at the same time. It’s actually pretty fun to imagine the scenarios!
