how you smile when you first get your braces
—
after many years of delay
it was finally my time
to begin wearing
invisalign braces
4 months in and 14 to go
a little bit of slurring
a lot of brushing
going to the ortho office
sitting in the waiting room
surrounded by 13-year olds
we may have different things on our mind
but we have something in common as well.

A bold step.

really not for cosmetic reasons, my lower teeth were doing damage to my upper teeth and would not end well unless i made an adjustment. i was happy not having perfect teeth )

I should have done that before I retired like many colleagues did.

In a crowded place of strangers the braces experience is probably the one thing that 99% of us have in common.

Aww, good for you! Don’t let it dull your smile 🙂
But with invisalign, you have the gift of never being called tin teeth or brace face, or having your dad joke for two years about hooking you up to the TV for better reception…memories…lol!

I could probably use some braces as well. But I’m worried those 13-year olds would start picking on me in the waiting room…

I’m doing my best to bond with them and try to fit in. so far I’ve been holding my own

they would probably start calling me four eyes and it would be like high school all over again… 🙂

and why not? important to do for my teeth, as one group is damaging the others

I had ’em, but my teeth were so crowded it didn’t make a huge difference. Didn’t get the good teeth gene.

mine have always been a bit crazy, but now they have taken it upon themselves to hurt the good ones, so the braces should help to get them under control

I think it should be worth the hassle and discomfort. Onward!

All of my three went through it. They took it seriously and did not mind it too much since many kids wore braces. They know what they did it for. Most of all my daughter is very proud of her teeth!

I need to get braces on my bottom jaw to fix some damage that happened when my wisdom teeth came in, but I keep putting them off because they’re costly. I knew someone who had the Invisalign braces and they’re not obvious unless you’re really close. I wonder if they’re more cost-effective.

they really aren’t painful, and quite easy to manage, I found them to be expensive but necessary in my case

Wish I’d done this when I was much, much younger. Wisdom teeth were finally pulled but the damage had been done. Not going to try to fix it now.

I wouldn’t have either, I don’t care about the cosmetic reasons, but my lower teeth are damaging my upper teeth, so important to put a stop to it

Haha – I like this. Our 19-year-old just finished with his aligners and is waiting for the retainer. He made the same comment about being the oldest patient. It’s such a great option for all ages, but yes, the talking takes some getting used to.

Don’t you get that feeling “something I missing” when you pass your tongue over your teeth now.
That’s how I’d feel for a day or two.😂
