I walk through a small woodland every day, on part of my dog-walk with Ollie. I see it changing in there all the time, and never need to hurry. Yesterday, we disturbed two small deer, and for once, Ollie didn’t chase them. He must have been feeling too hot on a warm afternoon.
Best wishes, Pete.
I could never resist a trail wandering off through the trees. Simply being there is a treat, but what’s around the next bend? What’s just over the next hill? Only one way to find out …
So true, what’s the point in hurrying. When I lived in Manhattan I used to walk all the time around the city as if I were going to put out a fire, and many times I found myself asking myself: wot are ye hurrying for? You aren’t in a rush!!!
I’m taking Bryson’s quite both literally and figuratively. I love walking in the woods because of many things (forest bathing for sure) but one reason is because I’m not “GOING” anywhere. I’m just BEING.
Spring walks in the woods are amazing. We get to share in the rebirth of old things and find our own new leaves. Great post, Beth!

We are thinking along the same lines today in our blog content. I would very much enjoy a spring walk through those Michigan woods. Lovely.

It took arthritis to teach me that lesson, not the easiest way to learn, either. I really loved that book and I even enjoyed the film.

that’s right, something like that forces us to learn. I loved the book too, but haven’t yet seen the film

The film is funny — not as funny as the book but it’s funny. I’ve seen it a couple of times.

I love my daily walk.
Though the walking trail is the same, nature has a different, beautiful treat in store for me every day.
I am grateful!

No hurrying at all. In such areas, you learn to enjoy the moment and draw the energy from that moment and the powerful surrounding.
