“there is no point in hurrying because you are not actually going anywhere.
however far or long you plod, you are always in the same place: in the woods.”

  1. I walk through a small woodland every day, on part of my dog-walk with Ollie. I see it changing in there all the time, and never need to hurry. Yesterday, we disturbed two small deer, and for once, Ollie didn’t chase them. He must have been feeling too hot on a warm afternoon.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. So true, what’s the point in hurrying. When I lived in Manhattan I used to walk all the time around the city as if I were going to put out a fire, and many times I found myself asking myself: wot are ye hurrying for? You aren’t in a rush!!!

  3. I’m taking Bryson’s quite both literally and figuratively. I love walking in the woods because of many things (forest bathing for sure) but one reason is because I’m not “GOING” anywhere. I’m just BEING.
