When my cat found something alarming at its feet or suddenly just in front of it, he had a habit of leaping into the air…but also sideways. I guess that was an airborne version of crabwise. 🙂

I loved when I’d come around a corner, they’d look totally terrified, and hop away “crabwise” then crawl up in my lap. I’m sure they were joking around.
