the arts of peace.

Standard

not me, nor my garden

but he and i have similar attitudes

and this warmer weather

really has me wanting to get my garden going

then just stand back

and take it all in.

(hello to claude monet, at giverny gardens in 1923, perhaps thinking about painting it)

“to plant a garden is the chief of the arts of peace.”

  1. A garden should be allowed to be itself. I am sure the gardens with paths etc that a meticulously maintained for public viewing are beautiful. But give me a backyard garden where even an odd bloom is welcome.
Where only a trim or a haircut is needed occasionally.

  2. I’ve been to his garden and it’s so amazing. I saw chickens too. :) I have no idea how many gardeners it takes, working every single day to keep it going. It’s gorgeous. I can’t wait to get outside, still too early and it’s REALLY windy again today. :)

    • oh, how lucky you were there to see it, and that there were chickens as well. I thought it must take a group to keep up with the whole thing, and I’d love to see it one day.

      • It’s so beautiful and our guide (small group) got there almost before it closed but they let us in and we had the place to ourselves. It is an amazing place but they said it need constant attention. Lots of people work there. Huge job, but as a tourist…it was fabulous and the chickens were not in the garden but on the side. If you get a chance to see it be sure not to miss it. It can get crowded I guess, so timing is everything.
