That’s life … mad as the mist and snow …
“Mad as the Mist and Snow” is a poem by William Butler Yeats. It contrasts the wild, passionate nature of human experience with the calm, inevitable progression of time and the universe. Yeats often explores themes of mysticism and the tension between the fleeting nature of life and the eternal elements of the natural world.

I’m off to Calgary on Tuesday Ivor for two weeks — they just got a huge dump of snow so I had to share it on my FB page. Thank you! :) (Sorry Beth for hijacking your comments for a moment! :) If you’re in MIchigan did you get the same snow?

I vote for the left photo. The other one is far too much snow.
Best wishes, Pete.

my son wrote to me this morning: last yr very same situation, heavy snow, bitter cold 3rd wk of november, 4th wk warm temps (last yr up to 15°C) – and it sure looks to be nearly the same this year. I‘ll send you some pics of last Wednesday/Thursday to your email address….
we experienced snow like on your right pic when living in toronto in the seventies…. or sometimes but seldom here in switzerland! fascinating. nature always is surprising us.

What a good juxtaposition. Did you or someone in your family take the picture on the right?
I couldn’t help noting another juxtaposition: the cold roundness in today’s first photograph with the warm roundness in yesterday’s photograph.

no, there are a lot of classic photos of that storm and this is one that really defined how it was. thanks for noticing the roundness contrast from the warm soup bowl the day before

Those days of snows like the photo on the right are a thing of the past in my area. Heck, we still haven’t even had our first snowfall! I miss the days of lots of snow, to be honest. We must adapt to all of Mother Nature’s moods!

it’s really changed over time, and I wasn’t a fan of it during my commuting days…

Definitely not! Nothing like a snowstorm to cause a sh*tstorm on the roads…

What a wonderful contrast. I find myself thinking about where I was 46 years ago and how much snow we had then in upstate New York. Where are you located?

I do too. I love the beauty of snow, but hated commuting in it and now I just want a bit of it and then move on )

I feel the exact same way. I like it when I can stay in. LOL And I don’t like the black snow and grime after a huge snowfall, while it’s melting.

How well I remember childhood winters on the prairie like those in your vintage photo. We were in Fargo this past weekend for a wedding. There snow is already piled in parking lots. I was happy to leave that scene behind.
