And this is the lady
Whom everyone loves,
Ms. Violet
in her purple gown
Or, on special occasions,
A dress the color
Of sunlight. She sits
In the mossy weeds and waits
To be noticed.
She loves dampness.
She loves attention.
She loves especially
To be picked by careful fingers,
Young fingers, entranced
By what has happened
To the world.
We, the older ones,
Call it Spring,
And we have been through it
Many times.
But there is still nothing
Like the children bringing home
Such happiness
In their small hands.
“Children, It’s Spring”

Happy Spring, Beth. I love leaving home early morning for work with daylight and coming home in daylight. Such an invigorating time of the year. And love seeing the plants pop up from the ground after a winter slumber!

Lovely words, and accompanying image. It does actualy feel like Spring on the first day of Spring, and that’s a rarity in Beetley.
Best wishes, Pete.

We used to be given violets when I was small and at Sunday School. I dont believe they should ever be picked . They wilted so quickly and moulded to my tightly clenched hand. To sad and pointless when they could have lived on and prospered where they were growing.

Well, I have my sandals in, ready to go, and the temps have plummeted, possible snow this afternoon, but spring is known for her fickleness

And we expect March showers because they bring April showers where I live.

I have these little beauties that pop up all over my gardens and I’m so happy to see them in the spring. Their tiny flowers are just so dainty and beautiful and let me know that spring is really here.
