music connects people.

Standard

went to my grandson’s (a born entertainer), arts camp

in a beautiful northern michigan location

to pick him up and to see his choir performance

where some of their rehearsals even took place in the woods

it was a wonderful experience for him for many reasons

new friends, no electronics, learning to play piano, sing new music

time away from home, tell stories, eat camp  food, have new adventures

at the camp performance

my daughter noticed

that grandson j, and his longtime friend, also j

were singing in much the same positions

where they had performed

at a school concert

where they first met seven years ago

so wonderful they are still friends and still love music.

‘the true beauty of music that it connects people.

it carries a message, and we, the musicians, are the messengers.’

  1. An arts camp sounds like such a wonderful experience, Beth. How wonderful for your grandson and how smart of your kids to think about this opportunity. It’s adorable the double Js are still friends and fingers crossed this may just be a lifelong friendship. 😊🙏

    • it was a perfect fit for him, because it’s what he most loves doing, plus it gave him his first experience being away from home for so long, (and not having tech). I hope they are friends forever, too –

    • those are special connections, I’m sure. when my brother in law(lifelong musician), passed away 18 months ago, we gathered around at his house after the funeral and once the stories got going with his music friends, oh boy, the songs started and we are all singing and so much joy and laughter and many tears and it was such a wonderful ending –

  2. Music is so important, that I married a musician.

What is also important are all the wonderful posts with their uber positive messages, that I read here today. Your love/teaching children, your puzzle and the people who made it, cat love and more.
It’s not a wonder that your grandson has embraced music, and friendship.
    Thank you, Beth!

  3. It doesn’t get any better than this! You must have been in seventh heaven at the concert. J and J will have many stories to tell as their music experiences grow, because music connects people.
