I guess the phrase “All I need to know I learned in kindergarten” takes on a different meaning when you’re teaching it. Can’t wait to hear about all the things your new kindergartners teach you this year!
The swings were my favorite activity at the park! I’d love to swing on one again, but middle aged guys with no children stick out like a sore thumb on playgrounds…
Great photo and quote, beth. Good luck this year. Heidi started teaching her new class of Special Ed Kindergartners a couple of weeks ago. So far, so good!
Miss those first week of school days excitement but have my little grandkids to fill in some of my holes in my heart. I am envious but excited for you! Love the fact you will be meeting all sorts of munchkins, sharing your wonderful fun and funny sides with them, along with teaching them oh, so much, Beth!!
We really do learn from the littlest of ones, don’t we? I loved combat crawling to circle with my teaching assistant for most of the year with a child with Cerebral Palsy, Beth! We made the speech, OT, PT and the psychologist, and the other kids loved doing this with this little tyke! he ended up getting a remote controlled wheel chair at age 4, so we missed out on the crawling sometimes… Smiles!
That’s the place to swing, Beth! Didn’t you love to swing as high as you could and then jump off when you were that age? Wow, that photo brings back sweet memories. Don’t let your kinders get this carried away, though, right?!
Have a wonderful day with the ‘newbies’ hun 🙂 x

It was so much easier to jump off those swings when the ground was closer to my face 🙂

I remember exiting a swing like the boy in the picture. Sadly it was head first from the apex, yep, chin first onto the cement.

ah memories – oops! glad you are okay after that, laurie –

Would have been about 6 beth, I gashed my chin and I think caused a lot of the damage I have in the C1 and C2 vertebrae. 😦

It was an ouch, my big sister pushed the swing that hard it went higher than the bar holding it. Believe me when I say I’ve had worse since then. 🙂

My daughter is in K. She loves it. She has to bring in a smock for messy art projects to hang in her locker. Why do they not do that in HS? LOL

oh, i hope she loves it! and so true about the need for the hs smocks, they need them even more than the little ones )

I know, think how it might relieve all that anxiety and pressure to get down and dirty with some clay, paints and pipe cleaners.
