i have always loved boxes

some for nostalgia or beauty

others for their material or design

as my children know

sometimes a box is my favorite part of a present

yes, i have a kept a few or so.

one specialized group are those who save the boxes created by apple and the used boxes are actually for sale on ebay.

 i only recently gave a gift in my macbook air box that i had saved for no reason other than i loved its amazing design.

  2. Love the Bombeck quote, freaking hilarious. But I am not falling for it ladies. A beautiful box will only get you so far with any woman. Don’t agree? Stick a skee ball token in a Cartier ring box and see how far that gets you…😁💍

  6. I have moved 4 times and never had enough boxes.
    I do know that the grocery stores don’t have the quality of boxes they used to have. Too flimsy anymore.
    Attic is full of the left over good ones ….. just in case.

  8. So funny how I found myself in your writings. You just wrote what I never said but that I always thought. I love boxes too, especially the Macbook one, never taking it out of my desk, it is useful to place my computer a bit higher and sit with a straighter back. Am I the only one who does this ?

  17. Oh, I LOOOVE boxes, too! When I was a kid I had a drawer full of little (empty) boxes…just because. Even now I have to restrain myself from starting another collection. I also have ancient boxes from stores that don’t exist anymore, usefully holding Christmas decorations or other keepsakes. 🙂

  18. Love this! I have a friend who’s a bit of “Hollywood Royalty” and she has a treasure trove of classic Hollywood memorabilia – the classic artifacts of the past are what give me such a warm glow of nostalgia!

  21. Beth! This is so awesome. I now feel semi normal cuz I do the same thing. But it has to be a pretty box or one that has a silky feel … after all I don’t wanna be a box hoarse of just any old box. 😉

  25. As a kid, I used to beg for empty cigar boxes from the local drugstore. So many uses! As an adult I marvel at the design and intricacy of modern packaging, with all the folds and notches, etc., that securely cradle delicate contents. But then, since the pandemic started, I’ve been overwhelmed with shipping boxes that need to be broken down for recycling.

  29. You are right, this is a whole subculture. I have a hard time throwing away anything that can be used again. Pretty boxes are on the shelf for display. In all the moving I’ve had to let go of so much but make sure that it goes to a good home. 😉 Jars that are pretty and functional hang around too. I’ve not seen a mac box but will go look it up now. 🙂

  30. I’m one of those folks.
    Saved my first Apple Computer box for years because if you had to bring it in for updates, (never fixing) you had to have the box as proof the machine was yours.

    Later, stored giveaway clothes in it and gave it away to the universe.
