twists and turns.

Standard

i love that someone has created a poster

with some of our more interesting twists and turns

 and wonder about the mindset

of the road planning engineers.

were they perhaps going for

more of an ‘artsy’ and unexpected approach to the roads?

more like the road of life?

“life is full of surprises and serendipity. being open to unexpected turns in the road is an important part of success. if you try to plan every step, you may miss these wonderful twists and turns. just find your next adventure – do it well, enjoy it, and then, not now, think about what comes next.”

-Condoleezza Rice – Former U.S. Secretary of State

  1. I read this one night during my sabbatical from blogging and absolutely loved it: the twists and turns of life; don’t plan too far ahead; expect the unexpected — which reminds me of a poem I wrote a few years back; may put it up tomorrow

  2. I grew up in Oklahoma, where everything is section lines. Almost everything but the rivers run due north/south or east/west. I got out of there and for the first few years I travelled I learned the hard way about the wagon wheel cities like Boston and New Orleans, the insanity of Southern California and cities where things looked like the Ann Arbor sign. In fact, my father’s comment about Dallas was that “they followed a drunk cowboy around one night and put a road wherever he walked.” I live in Dallas now and he was right. Thanks for the laugh.
