“love football – hate racism”
well done.

ours is not the struggle of one judicial appointment or presidential term.
ours is the struggle of a lifetime,
or maybe even many lifetimes,

Is that a post-box? Good idea to use them to promote the cause. I doubt that would be allowed on our red post-boxes.

I don’t want to imagine the potential punishment that would be awarded for getting ‘caught’ placing that sticker! Loved the quote and it is spot on!

My sentiments exactly..well, except I don’t love football so much but I certainly hate racism and so admire John Lewis for everything he stood for to combat such an ugly, destructive thing in the minds of so many. I don’t understand it at all.

this is a big college football town, so I makes more sense in context, but I so agree about Lewis and what he fought for

Yes, I can certainly understand the football sentiment..we were college students there in the late 60’s early 70’s. My husband is a UM alumni. Some things never change but unfortunately neither does the racism sentiment either. We were fighting against it there at that time of our residence and still are over 50 years later.
The hard won gains in civil rights we advocated for on the streets of Ann Arbor seem not to make one damn bit of difference to a new wave of racists. But we’ll keep up the good fight!

I attend many sporting events, and one of the things that stands out for me is how people from different cultures, religions, colors, etc., can unite around a team. People from different backgrounds can quickly get behind a unifying concept. I haven’t been to a concert in ages, but I used to see the same phenomenon there.

yes, you are so right, a common interest can unite people

Racism, sexism, and all the rest are simply tools used to divide us by the men in charge. They fear us getting together and working as one. Terrifying for them. All the destructive things are ways to manipulate us, sometimes even football.

I happened to be on the Capitol grounds when John Lewis lay in state. The couple I was with waited in a fantastically long line of those coming to pay their respects during the Pandemic.
