thank you’s.

Standard

our class spent time this week talking about gratitude

and the importance of offering thank you’s to people we are grateful for.

the kinder drew pictures and dictated thank you notes for their families.

i had the honor of writing out the words above

for a child’s thank you that he wanted to give to his family.

it was one of simplest, most powerful, and beautiful thank you’s i’ve yet to see.

“mankind’s greatest achievements are found on thank you notes, not resumes.”

  1. That was very powerful for a child to want to do that. My mum used to make me write thank you notes for every gift at Christmas and birthdays. I never saw it as a chore, and was happy to sit and do it.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. There are few lessons as important as this one. Gratitude is best shared, and you encouraged them to recognize it, and share it…I’m grateful for you – first message I see in my inbox every morning…thank you

  3. Not only did this child learn about gratitude and writing thank-you notes, but my heart swelled with what he was grateful for… Not for a new puppy or a new toy he wanted, but for the people in his life who love him! Doubly powerful!

  4. I feel often that I must be the only left-over writer of cards and notes here in Switzerland. I had regular funny, sad, great and not so great exchanges with my now dead little sister and my mother. I still write quite a large number of Christmas cards, but alas, it gets less year after year. What I‘m writing most these days, are condolences cards …
This little guy has a most beautiful heart! And you are a fantastic teacher, teaching those kiddies what is truly important in life.

  5. I find it fascinating how two people can look at the same set of facts and feel completely different about it. While one person expresses gratitude for the positive, another will only focus on the negative. Can gratitude be taught? Absolutely! Way to go, Beth!
