I always love this day because psychologically I know we will be getting more light every day, even though the amount is too small to really notice for awhile.

That is so true. At work I sometimes made admittedly big mistakes, I sometimes was recognized for good performance, and sometimes I was the messenger who performed well but was killed for enforcing unpopular truth. I used to console myself with the belief that at least I knew I did a good job!
