it will be a never ending war, I fear not helped by civil wars — whenever is a war ‘civil’ ? — or global instability —

I saw the world I had walked since my birth and I understood how fragile it was, that the reality was a thin layer of icing on a great dark birthday cake writhing with grubs and nightmares and hunger.

I have been reading about famines ever since I could read, and every year there are more of them. It never stops and never will, until some fair distribution of the world’s wealth happens, and the culture in the countries affected changes to enable a sensible birthrate.
Best wishes, Pete.

We need to learn how to better grow food, distribute food, preserve food and share food, Beth.

I look in my cupboard/refrigerator and say,”How am I going to fix what I see? So many choices!”
And others look in their cupboard and say,”There is nothing to fix today.”
And so many don’t have a cupboard to look in.
Hats off to those organizations/people that work to help ease this crisis.

Which it why it drives me insane when restaurants or grocery stores throw food away instead of giving it. (Though I do know many DO donate… still…)

I always find the numbers staggering. A quick Google search came back with one site that estimated that the number of people who die each day from hunger and related causes at 25,000. In 2024, that’s just crazy. Just so sad

If we could get the profiteers out of the way, everyone could be fed.

Yet Restaurants continue to overcharge and throw out unused food daily when they could offer that food to anyone who needs it

Supporting local food banks is a cause which every dining establishment should utilize on a daily, regular basis.

I so agree. here, we have the food gatherers, who collect food from many of our restaurants as well as individuals.

Oh….and the ever-increasing price of food…even items that were formerly thought of as thrifty options…spinning out of reach for families in need. I applaud friends and family who are active in local food banks and pantries and help when I can…but the greatest issue right now is securing donations (just as Matt mentioned below) from restaurants that were previously benefactors but have fallen away.

There is no way to understand how in a world of plenty, so many are starving. It’s insane and there truly is not reason for it.

A true statement of freedom is to have food so that one can live and be whatever they are called to be.

President Clinton send my unit to Africa three times for water, food and medical missions in the nineties. Dear Beth. I learn my life wasn’t so hard. Today many are going to bed hungry. Including the USA. I hope in our lifetime. The world try to help the people in need.
