you go to the theater, you’re just so excited to see anything –

I love old cinemas! Our local one in town is in a building that dates from the 1850s, but has sadly been converted inside to provide three smaller screen mini-cinemas. Before it began to be used as a cinema in 1924, the building was the Corn Exchange. At least the exterior is unchanged, as it is a listed building. https://cinematreasures.org/theaters/24664/photos/347578
Best wishes, Pete.

I love old cinemas as well. We’ve one close to my neighbourhood and I truly enjoy watching old movies there. It is never crowded and the people who go there are nice and polite. Happy Sunday to you Beth!

I think cinema, movies, and magic have always been closely associated. The very earliest people who made film were magicians.

we had a great chat with the woman who took it over from ‘uncle Joe’ and a local foundation pitched in to save the cinema

it was in the middle of a film when we were there, so we chatted with the woman who ran it, and her/and the theaters story, were fascinating

I’m with you! We have one treasured old place near us and it feels like time travel to watch a movie there. We haven’t been…in forever. Thanks for the nudge! 🥰

My old cinema has been converted to a pub with lots of memorabilia, including the projector and reels of film, on view! They don’t make ’em like they used to!

ah, well they preserved a bit of it, at least

Haven’t been to an old movie theater in ages. Don’t know if they’re still around but I remember the clicking of the reel as it turned, during the film. Going to see Ryan Renolds and Hugh Jackman, this week.

I’ve seen that the old one in the neighborhood I grew up in has been remodeld and is now protected as an icon. The Patio, but everyone used to call it the pay show. LOL It was very cool.

Nothing better than those old-styled, comfortable movie seats as well.

Holy Toledo! I was in Elk Rapids this weekend. We didn’t stop at the movie house though. We ambled through town, taking in the sites and shopping. Were you there this weekend, too?

Looks like a great place to visit, Beth. Do I read between the lines that the AC was turned down low?
