2025 marks the start of generation beta
The reign of Generation Alpha is over — now introducing: Gen Beta. While we have yet to see this new era take shape, we know that many of these children will be the offspring of millennials and older Gen Zers, living until the 22nd century.
Gen Beta kids, who are expected to become 16% of the global population by 2035, will grow up in a world infused with technology and AI, which could impact everything from their schools to doctor’s offices. They’ll walk the tightrope of forming their identities and developing relationships both online and IRL, but their parents will be well-equipped to help them.
“We predict Generation Beta will embody the balance between hyper-connectivity and personal expression,” wrote author and social researcher Mark McCrindle, who coined the name Gen Beta. “They’ll redefine what it means to belong, blending in-person relationships with global digital communities.”
But tech isn’t the only factor that will impact these quarter-century babies. Click here to learn more in Nice News’ guide to the different generations — from Alpha to Z.

I seem to be sitting on a generational cusp. Neither fit here nor there. Kind of glad I won’t be going “there”. My daughter is getting me a phone thingy and trying to set it up with me by email.
I refuse to be one of those people who sit and fiddle with their phone in the doctor’s office instead of picking up the worthless pamphlets provided for our enjoyment.

I think I am known as a ‘boomer’. That’s fine with me as I definitely wouldn’t want to be born now into an uncertain future reliant on AI and other technologies, potentially facing climate change diaaster. I see myself as one of the lucky ones, in that I enjoyed both worlds. Before the Internet, and after.
Best wishes, Pete.

fellow boomer here, and I hope the best for them, but it will be very different

Although I’m not a fan of AI – I prefer to think for myself without assistance – Gen Beta sounds like it might be the best of both worlds as we know them so far.

Yes. I think there is much hope for them. They won’t be as stuck between technology (for lack of a better term) than those that precede them.

This should be retitled “We’re old!” 😆 I thought Gen Alpha was the new thing then here’s the next version brand spanking new! It’ll be very interesting to see a generation that has never not known about AI. I hope the world and planet will be in a good state when they come of age!

So interesting … and mind blowing!
A friend’s baby grandson was playing with his Fischer Price plastic phone. His granny showing him how to speak into the handset. 📞 The new (young) nanny asked, what is that? … I realized how quickly we can get out of touch these days.

How interesting, Beth. We currently have five Gen Zs and two Gen Alphas in our family. The next babies will be theirs.

Yes, I don’t think it’s a real baby, more a symbol for the new year. (I hope!)

I always like learning about the new generational categories. There’s a lot to be said for having tech savvy parents guiding them, I always felt halfway behind the curve with my teens.

I honestly pray for the younger ones. I often find myself worrying about Gen alpha and Gen z regarding too much technology and too little human interaction. Now with Beta on the way I want to stop this worries.
I think I will take a positive approach and pray my worries are all for nothing.
