Year of the Snake: Personality Traits
Snake babies are often described as wise beyond their years. They’re the deep thinkers of the zodiac, known for their calm demeanor, resourcefulness, and ability to analyze situations before taking action.
“On the second new moon after the winter solstice, millions around the world celebrate a holiday known as the Lunar New Year. This year, the momentous occasion falls on January 29th when we say goodbye to the fierce Dragon and usher in the energy of the Yin Wood Snake. The Lunar New Year symbolizes transitions, fresh, new beginnings, and reminds us that even within the coldest, darkest depths of winter, there is the promise of spring. It’s an invitation to look at the cycle. There are cycles in our natural world such as the seasonal cycles, cycle to be found in each day, or the moon cycle. It’s just another larger cycle that we look at to give us some insight on how to navigate and also embrace the transition. It’s also a celebration to invite in something new, like that energy of a seed bursting through a shell and unfurling into new growth. That’s what Lunar New Year is about.”

I was born in 1952, so in a ‘Dragon’ year. I sometimes saw traditional Chinese New Year celebrations in Soho when I lived in London.
Best wishes, Pete.

Happy Lunar New Year, Beth! We celebrate Chinese New Year in our family and on days like today, I miss my dad making the sticky rice cakes for breakfast. You’ve inspired me to go look for some at the store!

I know that holiday traditions are so important and I’m sure you do miss your dad’s special cakes. I’m glad that you’ll go seek them out and share that tradition with your family.

Oh thank goodness that this “reminds us that even within the coldest, darkest depths of winter, there is the promise of spring.” I needed that reminder!

I am a Snake moon child. Born of deep flowing wisdom, wrestled from the sun in the heat of night.
Thank you for the spark this morning Beth!

It is so interesting to learn about the Chinese zodiac. I remember we watched a Chinese New Year’s parade in LA 13 years ago.

You’ve reminded me just in time, Beth. Sweet and sour chicken for supper.
We were in our local Chinese restaurant last week and I asked when it was, but of course I’ve slept since then and it went out of my head.
