    • here you go – an old American tradition –
In a tradition dating to the 1880s, if Phil the Groundhog sees his shadow, it’s a sign winter will last six more weeks. If he doesn’t, an early spring is on the way. There are also other groundhogs making predictions around the country. (Science-based approaches to weather are also available.) National TV goes live to Puxatawny, Pennsylvania, where Phil lives and huge crowds of people come to see his prediction and to celebrate. Also a famous movie, called “groundhog day’ with bill Murray. P.S. Phil just predicted 6 more weeks of winter!

  1. After ‘Foreveuary’ aka January finished February is refreshing, so far! Even if the winter lasts another six weeks, the days ARE getting longer and that feels better. Yesterday was sunny, today overcast. I am going to make the day count!

  2. Here in Colorado, we turn to Flatiron Freddie (actually a stuffed marmot, not a live groundhog). And he agreed with Punxsutawney Phil. Six more weeks of winter. Given that 2024 was the warmest year on record, perhaps we shouldn’t complain.
