happy belated Canada Day
to my friendly neighbors upstairs in the north
sorry I missed it
but as you might have heard
we’ve had a lot going on
downstairs here in the south
I decided to paddle over
right across the detroit river
from michigan to canada
rather than drive through our border
to say thanks for everything, eh?

they just think about being good neighbors,
good people.
and then happiness sort of sneaks in the back window while they are busy being good.’

You have that close land connection to Canada. Looking on a map, the border appears to be very close to Ann Arbor.
Best wishes, Pete.

yes, I drive to detroit, not far at all, and they are just across the river – we can wave to each other

July 1st always sneaks up on me! Last year for Canada Day, I was in Toronto for a baseball game and was in for a treat, baseball on Canada Day and the Blue Jays wear red! It is the only game in the year they wear that uniform. It was awesome. Great experience.

having lived nearly 2yrs of my much younger life in ‘Tranaaa’ and was granted a few weeks of travelling across Cda and the US (plus greyhound to Mexico) I can say that I grew to love Canada…. and that absolutely wonderful quote – says it all. ta beth, brilliant, even if one day late. who cares?! we all care about each other, no date needed to remember!

Being a good neighbor is really important. Some people get it, some don’t.

Why wouldn’t you be a good neighbor? It makes life so much more pleasant for everyone. It takes so little effort to, at a minimum, mind your own business and not create nuisances.
And a belated Happy Canada Day to our northern neighbors. You guys are the best!

I share my belated wishes for my Canadian neighbors. Happy Canada Day! I’m right here across the border in Minnesota. Yup, we’ve had just a little bit going on here down to the south. Thanks for realizing it’s not us, it’s “him.” Love you, Canada! Love your words and the quote, Beth!

I’m not always a fan of insurance companies, but maybe we should all be like State Farm . . . ie, “like a good neighbor!” Ha, ha.

Great quote! Be a good neighbor; the rest will take care of itself.
By the way, Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site came in the mail today. Jack (not to mention his dad) is going to love it. Thanks for the tip, my friend.

So sweet. We have to try harder to make up for poor Canada being attached to us. Sigh. Love the photo and yes…happy birthday.
