Trout, mushrooms in wine, sardines—these are just three of the 900 ice cream flavors enjoyed at the Heladeria Coromoto ice cream parlor in Merida, Venezuela. The shop offers the world’s largest selection of ice cream flavors, and there are seemingly no limits to the variety of tastes for the most adventurous of palettes, all of them all-natural. “If you eat the spaghetti with cheese ice cream, it has real spaghetti and cheese in it,” says manager, Jose Ramiraz.
His first attempt was avocado, and he wasted over 50kg of ice cream trying to perfect it. Now, it’s a local favorite, and can be paired with a number of flavors such as sweetcorn or black bean, as well as mango or coconut to bring out its sweetness.
The shop serves locals and tourists from all over. There are about 60 flavors offered in the shop at any given time and the flavors are changed according to the season. Among the bizarre selections, one can find more traditional flavors like chocolate or vanilla.
Being in Venezuela, there are also plenty made with rum, such as rum-and-raisin. Some odd-named flavors include British Airways, I’m Sorry, Darling, and the blue-hued Viagra Hope, which is made of honey and pollen, but shares the bright, sky blue shade of its namesake.

Oh…my…goodness. Melted ice cream as a sauce? Where has Chris Pratt’s wisdom been all my life? Ice cream – with sauce – for breakfast! 🥰😜🥰

Huh. Not a big fan of ice cream so I’d pass on most of these flavors! Melted ice cream as sauce? Maybe…

I’ve never been a big ice cream fan. I did love maple walnut in NY but can’t find it in Colorado. Ditto Braum’s cherries, pecans, and cream, but there’s no Braum’s in Colorado.

Sadly, I’d still order dark chocolate, possibly with brownies in it.. I don’t want cheese and noodles in my ice cream but I imagine a lot of people would love it and it’s very exciting to have a lot of choices, and new flavors. So interesting.

I think if I were offered spaghetti and cheese ice cream, I would request that they hold the spaghetti and cheese. But pouring melted ice cream on regular ice cream sounds like a saucy idea…

I had absolutely no idea Venezuela is taking over the ice cream world with ridiculous variety. I’d like to think I’d be adventurous and try something I can’t find anywhere else…but I lean into comfort and would probably chicken out.

They must have quite a freezer to stock 900 flavors. Ice cream is my weakness. I know I would try some of the unusual-sounding flavors.

Good for you for publicizing this. My wife is from the Philippines, and after she came to the United States she was surprised to find we don’t treat avocado as a fruit and don’t use it to flavor sweet things like ice cream the way they do over there.

Yes, a lot was different, but she came to the United States in 1988 and has long since gotten used to things here. On her first visit back to the Philippines after she learned how to drive a car here, she was horrified by the crazy ways people drive there
