this is not me,
but we do have a similar level of excitement upon waking up each day
just to see what is going to happen,
as we’ve both discovered over time,
not everyone shares this same level of enthusiasm for the new day.
when my children shared a house with me,
I loved waking them with a ‘merry sunshine!’ in the morning,
which did not always go over as well as the spirit in which the greeting was intended.
there is still time for it to grow on them.
here is Ralph’s take on the situation:
—
‘there is one topic peremptorily forbidden to all well-bred,
to all rational mortals, namely, their distempers.
if you have not slept or if you have slept or if you have headache or sciatica
or leprosy or thunder-stroke,
I beseech you, by all angels, to hold your peace and not pollute the morning.

You’re taking your life into your hands when you wish teenagers a “merry sunshine” early in the morning. Beth wanders into the den fearlessly.😅

My grandpuppy, Parker, is the most exuberant (and happiest) dog I’ve ever met. Today’s photo captures his spirit nicely.

Haha! I still retain remnants of my excitement for a new day- though waking up with pain sometimes makes me a bit subdued. But never grumpy

I LOVE that picture, and it could be my dog! I am also a morning person; my daughter is not. I’m sure she thought I was polluting her mornings as a teenager. 😁

Excellent picture and quote. It’s awful when you say good morning, hi, or hello, and just get a grunt or other grumpy greeting. It curdles the atmosphere. Teenager are one thing, but when it’s adults ….

Ollie was always delighted to see me when I went to wake him up each morning. But he was still reluctant to get out of his cosy bed. 🐕🦺
Best wishes, Pete.

I try not to pollute the morning with the pollution arising from unfortunate circumstances with vocal complaints. However, the unfortunate circum stances unrelentlessly pollute my morning hence my life. .

I’m not an early riser, but I do appreciate that I have reached another new day, come what may, a frolic in the hay, a movie matinee, or a day at the ballet

I used to greet mine with song.. “Morning comes early and bright with dew. Under your window I sing to you… etc.” It was never appreciated. Not once. 😋

I love being awaken by an excited dog… my wife does not. I am an early riser and it takes a cup of coffee to get me started.

My high school best friend’s father (Mormon head of the household of 12 when I stayed over) went around singing “Reveille” just after dawn. I looked at her. “EVERY MORNING,” she said, “And if you don’t get up, it gets even weirder.” I got up, but i didn’t like it!!

HAH! :D Too precious.
I love it when my one dog puts her front feet on the bed, no words just a sweet, quiet ‘It’s Morning!’

This is totally me! (The enthusiasm for waking up and seeing what the day will bring, not the midair leaping.) I sometimes can’t wait to go to bed just so I can get the night over with and start a brand new day.
God, I’m weird.
