in our times, the writer has chosen to send it in an email, as is most popular these days sending messages, yet personally, I still love to send handwritten notes, but I think that makes his poem all the more moving. that it was sent using a tech format, with a very personal human message

Hope is so much better than “I trust” “I’m glad” “I wish” “I pray”. I wonder how many times I use or think the word hope daily.

I thought the email format was very effective because it speaks to how trite and insincere “I hope this email finds you well” has become since it’s been co-opted by AI scammers. In any event, it’s a beautiful benediction.

I like this. I always start my emails with “I hope you are well” and I do know there’s a segment of the population that rolls their eyes at greetings such as “I hope this email find you well.”
It’s nice to know there’s also a segment that understands the intention. :)

The nice thing is, if you’re sending it to an enemy, you can just add a couple of words–”I hope this email finds you IN A well”–to adequately convey your true feelings.
