Gotta make empathy the norm again, like back in the day when everyone looked aghast at sociopaths. Here’s hoping May Day participants move the needle a little. Lord knows the North Carolina legislature should be taking better care of our teachers and students.

  2. God, I used to hate May Day. Growing up in Hawaii, it was Lei Day, and throughout elementary school, I was always forced to do some lame aloha-themed recital. I have no beef with it nowadays, of course—especially when it advocates protest!

  3. I confess my thoughts are always divided on May 1 because today is my sister’s birthday. But yes, empathy worldwide would be a giant step forward. And for those who can’t summon empathy, respect. (It’s in my avatar for a reason.)

  5. The gaslighting of the common folk by the oligarchs is fascinating and infuriating. This was a very helpful reminder, Beth. Happy May!

  6. A little backstory…I’ve previously been a resident of NM, and most of my family lives there, including one serving as a member of an independent citizens advisory group of LANL. So a member of my family sent me this article about an astounding crossover. All I can say is, “Well done, Michigan!” for taking a stand against LANL. https://www.santafenewmexican.com/ap/national/michigan-utilitys-data-center-water-ban-throws-lanl-plans-into-limbo/article_fb487f6b-f84b-5616-b360-c3821c8da76b.html
