taking flight.

Standard

when playing outside

the kinder found a dead bird

they called out to everyone to come over to see it

they said goodbye to the bird and told her that they were sad that she had died

we put a circle of pretty leaves around her to keep her safe on her journey.

true.

Standard

how wonderful to share such a special day

with someone i’ve known since she was born

so happy and loved.

“true love is never blind, but rather brings an added light.”

flip.

Standard

when you’ve had a very long and busy week

and you get a text that reads:

“great news! your adult pinata headband has been delivered.”

and just like that

your world flips and rights itself in an instant.

“being happy never goes out of style.”

coming back.

Standard
after having such a wonderful time celebrating with family
it’s nice to be home
even if
i did have a late night
and an early morning flight to get here
but i’m still standing.
kind of.
“i regarded home as a place I left behind in order to come back to it afterward.”

all the lives…

Standard

walking in sedona in the early morning on the first day of autumn

“and all the lives we ever lived, and all the lives to be, are full of trees and changing leaves…”

ride along.

Standard

stopping for an oil change

on my way home from school

the tech went to open my hood

pausing to tell me

i had a ‘little friend’ traveling along with me

 a praying mantis

who had hunkered down and hung on just below my windshield

he very carefully opened the hood

the mantis hopped up on the windshield wiper

hung out while my oil was changed

just taking it all in

other people came over to check him out

still he held his ground

the tech carefully closed the hood when finished

trying to very gently coax the mantis to go back to his safe spot

before i drove off

but the mantis would not be deterred

hung on as i drove to the book store

 then i drove toward home

with my very special hood ornament

my ride along

even still hanging on

gone when i got home

perhaps he hopped off

stopping to visit a town along the way

i hope it was the adventure of a lifetime.

“the truth is

you don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow.

life is a crazy ride,

and nothing is guaranteed.”

long weekend.

Standard

on the long weekend

some of everything

sharing a spaghetti dinner with family

relaxing with friends at the lake

by the fire

waking up to a morning moon

a visit to the renaissance festival

cavorting with royalty, vikings, faerie folk, gnomes, jesters, magicians, musicians, artisans, knights, peasants, horses, dogs, dancers, warriors, barbarians, huns, lords and ladies…

and on the third day, she rested.

“on a long weekend, the possibilities are endless,

and we have the freedom to do as much or as little as we please.”

enthusiasm.

Standard

found these two hanging out amidst the clover

seven+ months until st. patrick’s day

they started celebrating a bit early

while they look a little worn

it doesn’t seem to matter.

“years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.”
