‘it’s called a record player and it plays records that
go ’round and ’round and the music comes out,’
says one little grandie
to another
when proudly showing off
his new home in america
and
all of the treasures
both old and new
that can be found inside.
Hey I had one of those! Seriously, my son wants one. He thinks it would be so cool to put a “needle” down on the record. lol

No one ever seemed to mind the wobbles – but you were careful if a record was playing.

I still have my 45 player but the whole albums are so exciting and would take longer to play than just one song, Beth! Awesome and so sweet that the grandies are enjoying new and old things, found in your cottage and here in their new ‘home.’ This one is really cool! I like the John Coltrane quote, too. Enjoy!!

Ha! Reminds me of a reader who commented that she spent some time tying to explain to her tween what a phone book was.
It must be so great to have all your grandies back where you can be a part of their lives on a regular basis and watch them grow up. 😀

I have one of those ( though a little more modern) that hasn’t been used since I bought it. All my big, round black treasures ( and some smaller ones) are still in boxes in my garage. What a waste.

No, just didn’t want to chuck a nice Thorens turntable, or any of the rest of my ageing HiFi out!

That looks a lot like the one I bought and took to my college dorm, along with the stand. Two JCs; a Coltrane quote and a Cash album. Interesting combo.

Yes, I remember them and I remember when they disappeared. Now they are back. What’s next? Bellbottoms and tube tops? (I used to put plastic horses on the records and pretend they were racing on a racetrack! We had a lot of scratched up records!) 😉

Brilliant! I bought a record of an auction site, then had to buy a record player to play it on.

I was given a bunch of classic old albums such as several from The Righteous Brothers under the condition that I buy a turntable. I did, and have enjoy them immensely.
