‘l laughed, i cried, i peed.’ – b. k.
had such a great night in the park
enjoying live theater
picnic-ing and laughing
while watching
fellow wp blogger,
roy sexton (aka ‘officer lockstock’)
and his merry band of castmates
sing and dance their hearts out
in this fabulous and clever musical
Urinetown is a satirical comedy musical from 2001, with music by Mark Hollmann, lyrics by Hollmann and Greg Kotis, and book by Kotis. It makes fun of capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, and musical theatre itself.

Maybe satirical comedy can save us the country from itself?! This sounds like a wonderful way to be enlivened and enriched and entertained on a summer’s evening.

Back in the day, when I was socially aware, I used to enjoy Shakespeare in The Park. Now that I am not socially aware, I miss it so much more, since I cannot experience that magic no mas.
However.
I still read Hamlet. (and Kiss Me Kate)
Great post.
(Sorry for my satirical comments–did not mean them to come off that way)

If they are doing musicals regularly, have they ever done Das Barbecue? It’s a hilarious interpretation of Wagner’s “Ring” Opera.

Ha! That was playing at a theater right by a metro station I often use, but since that particular station is the hub of homelessness in the city, and the stairs are one big urinal, I thought it was on a more…local…scope. Dang, sorry I missed it!
And great poem & quote, as usual!
