I once had a power cut for about four days I think. I boiled a kettle over a candle. It worked quite well and was a lot quicker than I imagined it would be!
I have lived in houses here in Spain, where there were no electricity, except if I turned on a generator and they are very expensive in use. Send you warm thoughts and hope, that you are able to stay warm anyway.
I know your power is back on now, but I’m just trying to process SIX DAYS. I would be losing my mind. Why would it take so long? We’ve never had a full day without power; I would worry everything in the fridge would spoil but I guess that’s not your concern.
Yes but I am lucky, some still don’t have it back. It was the result of a very high wind storm, trees and power lines went down and more than a million people lost their power. Even when trying to work on repairs the workers were hampered by the ongoing bad weather. Perfect storm.

Yikes! Hope you’re escaping this next storm. We expect 12-14 inches of snow tomorrow. I may join you. How are you keeping warm???

That is scary – a couple off inches of snow here and power is back!
