“people fail to get along because they fear each other;
they fear each other because they don’t know each other;
they don’t know each other
because they have not communicated with each other.”

“Because they have not communicated with each other” implies that communication would solve the problem of “they don’t know each other.” Not necessarily so.
For people to REALLY know each other, communication would require honestly ‘opening up’ to each other. Can you imagine people like Donald Trump (or any narcissist) honestly opening himself up, or even being interested in knowing what’s inside another person?

A lovely tribute to MLK today, Beth. His exquisite ability to communicate was a gift.

This statement is still so true… I feel like as a society we tend to fear more and more… Thank you for sharing it!

And he said these words before technology blew up. Imagine what he would have lamented about today.

What a beautiful reminder – any day, but of course especially today, and in today’s world. I’m reposting on a blog I do about how to give great service. Communicating isn’t just with friends, after all.

Reblogged this on WOW Service Mentor Insights and commented:
On this Martin Luther King Day, I wanted to repost an entry from a blogger I follow and greatly admire, KSBeth. Straight forward, but profound are these words that she’s chosen to honour a man who tried to make the world a better place.
It’s an idea that doesn’t have an expiry date, and shouldn’t change with technology.
