it’s january and i see the easter bunny
is already busy laying chocolate eggs
maybe she’s switching holidays
planning to take over groundhog day?

Hot cross buns have been in the stores here since Boxing Day. Easter beats ‘back to school’.

Punxsutawney Phil is horrible at weather forecasting anyway. If the bunny can do better, I am all for “Bunny Day”.

Yes, here in the UK as well. It usually starts straight away. I wanted to take a picture of Easterstuff in the store too and I was told off.

I find the commercial urgency which is taking over festival days like Easter and Christmas rather sad I have to say

I find it odd that we have a shortage in the supply chain, yet they had no problem filling up the shelves with Easter candy in January.

I haven’t seen any Easter merch come in yet at Mecca, and it wouldn’t go out until after VD anyway (unless we ran out of candy!). This reminds me of the time we had Christmas lights for sale in July…

I did see a section of Valentine’s Day candy boxes two weeks ago. Not sure if they are still there, but doesn’t that day always preclude Easter? Well, maybe they’re getting stock early because of all of the shipping fiascos and shortages?

That was fast. Chocolate though. I think the right response is thank you. Haha.

I am not a fan of shopping. So fortunately I don’t bear witness to a store’s interpretation of the calendar holidays. 🙂 (yes I had to look up ‘bear witness’ to make sure I used the right bear!). 🙂

What? Easter candy already? We haven’t even reached Valentine’s Day. We need to slow down and savor each special day before replacing it with the next.

Sigh. All that stuff used to bother me until I realized being bothered was my fault and put a stop to it. Chocolate eggs didn’t, and don’t, bother me. It was the crass commercialism.

Christmas cards on sale in late August, Valentine’s cards on sale in December, and Easter gifts available in January. The marketeers getting us to wish our lives away. Jut refuse to comply! 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Maybe we should just pick a week and have all the holidays at once, since it seems as if we are headed in that direction.

urgh. That really does annoy me when stores try to race ahead, and make time go even faster. I’m doing the opposite, always trying to slow it down! We’re still a month away from Valentine’s Day, for heaven’s sake. I’ll take a heart chocolate any day of the year, of course.

What real difference does a date actually make? To me dates mean nothing, it’s the spirit of the celebration, the desire to communicate love and understanding and who cares when you do it as long as you do it. But I love the chocolates…
