If I had a pet chicken, I’d have eggs that didn’t cost an arm and a leg. Fun post, beth. Happy Friday.

No doubt they will extend the range to chicken hoodies and rain macs soon. If the tiny dressed-up dogs around here are anything to go by.
Best wishes, Pete.

A funny fun post. 🙂
We harness a lot of animals including children and usually to keep them safe.
Then I thought of those invisible harnesses we put on others. The harness of shame/blackmail/embarrassment/control/slavery. Others?
Sorry! Feeling a bit serious and sober. 😦

I’m not sure any creature likes being harnessed. In any way

That chicken harness is weird. Just what we need.
Though many websites attribute your final quotation to Emerson, I haven’t been able to find any evidence that he actually wrote it.

Agree with that, I’d rather just let chickens happily cluck around in peace, but there must be some people looking to walk with their pets. Interesting about the quote,I found it attributed to him as well

My experience over the past two decades has taught me that if a bunch of websites attribute a quotation to a person but not one of them ever gives any further information—the occasion when it was said, the book or article it was originally published in, etc.—then in most cases the person did not really say it. Some of the main people to whom quotations get wrongly attributed are Mark Twain, Albert Einstein, Abraham Lincoln, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Confucius.

Haha! I love the quote! How will anyone make the chicken wear the harness?

Right! I’m guessing chickens would not like being harnessed

I’m surprised too; occasionally I see someone take their cat for a walk down the beach — but it is a very rare sight 🙂

I remember when you could get harnesses like that for toddlers. There is a photo somewhere of me in one. I wasn’t very happy. I am guessing chickens would feel the same way. Makes me wonder what an unhappy chicken would look like.

If you ever get to visit certain parts of Hawaii, Beth, you’ll notice chickens roam about the busy parts free and easy. It was an interesting departure from the mainland.

Now I’ve seen everything. Being a farm girl at heart, I don’t view chickens as pets. In fact, I don’t particularly care for them, having been the subject of a mean, attacking rooster. He didn’t last long on our farm.
