Children live in superlatives – the best day ever, the greatest story, the yummiest of-whatever-they’re-eating. And I feel those superlatives every time I’m with my granddaughters – the special-est of special people…

that’ s so beautiful, Beth and true; incidentally I am reading a canonical story by A S Byatt called ‘The Thing in the Forest’ dealing with this very thing :) fortunately for us it is now online :)

it’s one of my two favourite short stories, the other being ‘The Bear Came Over the Mountain’ by the Canadian writer, Alice Munro :) I’ve read both stories loads of times: it’s the joy of familiarity, like a dear old friend or your grandma when you were a kid:)

So true. Our grandson loves to tell us when he has seen dinosaurs in the forest. I asked him to let me know where to spot a Triceratops.

I hope you’re writing them down for end of year surprises. They must be fabulous. :)

They all draw journals and dictate those word to us – we give them to families at the end of their 2 years with us and show them in progress at conferences. They are amazing because each already has its own voice. Some love big disasters and messes, some love nature,,, etc

<3 – I forgot to share that after they have created their page, we gather in a circle to hear the stories that each 'author/illustrator' has created. they are so proud and love to hear each other's stories.
