  1. I distantly remember making forts with pillows and bedsheets. But very vividly recall the ones my kids made. And my granddaughter makes them in our living room every day, using all the cushions in the house.

  2. The card table was a great start (does anyone have card tables anymore?). And my attempt to dig to China in the backyard ended up being a fort instead. Also we made leaf forts (not very substantial, but fun to crash through when you came speeding down the driveway in a wagon). Good times! Great memories. Thanks!

    • yes, to digging to china turning into a hole fort and leaf forts were very short lived but fun. I haven’t seen a card table in years, but they made great bones for a fort.

  3. Bunkbed forts & cut prairie grass forts with garbage can lids.

In memory, the grass forts were neck high, with an upright garbage can lid.
I saw a pic several years ago, a bunch of kids in 1′ high circle of grass & a garbage can lid lying flat on the ground.
