  11. Wooohooo, although I never learned the Fahrenheit temps, your place sure sound hellish cold…. And we complain that we have minus 6-8°C! Twain sure got THAT right…. Stay near the heaters, you and the kiddies. And put on those mittens and ear-warmers when you absolutely must leave the house!

  13. When I lived part-time in Chicago, I would fly back and forth every ten days from Los Angeles…one day the difference in temperature when I landed in LA was 94 degrees…I left Chicago in -14 weather and it was 80 in LA…that took some getting used to!

  23. After 700+ days without any of the white stuff, it has arrived once more. The temperatures are going to take a dive next, so the “countdown” is on for our sidewalks and streets to be cleared before the deep freeze arrives.

  24. I became a silent follower after discovering this delightful blog via comments by yourself posted on Jennie’s “A Teacher’s Reflections”. That is unimportant though informative. At any rate, as you are a teacher, I thought that I could add some information about the quote that may be of interest to you. My intention is not to offend but to enlighten! This quote is erroneously attributed to Mark Twain. In 1877 Twain was reviewing a book about to be published and wrote an essay about it that was published. That book was by Caroline Bigelow Le Row : “English as She Is Taught : Genuine Answers To Examination Questions In Our Public Schools.” The actual quote as found in her book was an answer written by a student : “Climate lasts all the time and weather only a few days.” Mark Twain did assist with the book’s publication though I do not know specifics about that. The book itself has been reprinted several times over the decades as has Twain’s essay that also included the student’s words. Thank-YOU!

  25. Even though we no longer live in New Orleans we still follow along. Yesterday the temperatures were in the low 70s, but they were preparing for a freeze. Last night the temps dropped into the teens and snow fell. The last time that happened was Christmas 2004, which was followed by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. Just sayin’.

  28. Yes….same here…but I’m so grateful for the sunshine! It’s deceptive — gives the illusion of warmer days. Or maybe it’s just the need for sunglasses for the first time in weeks?! 🥰😜🥰

  32. When it hit 10 degrees here my husband and I left and ate out for dinner and shopped at Sam’s Club. It was wonderful because nobody else was as dumb as us to leave their house. I thought we were smart because there wasn’t anybody around. 🤣
