the kinder painted
using play feathers and real fingers
and colors they mixed and made
one
chose to paint
only white on white paper
to see what it would look like
it was a beautiful painting
all nuance and shade and texture.
“renoir said once that nothing was so difficult, and at the same time so exciting, to paint, as white on white.”

White On White shows a different perspective. Unusual work like that could win the Turner Prize! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turner_Prize
Best wishes, Pete.

Very Interesting Beth … I’ve never used white ink to write with, … I’m going give it a try!

Ivor, THANK YOU for the whiter shade…. That was one of my very first discs when I was love-sick and yearning for a boy – and it also was an excellent English lesson in a time you couldn‘t look up lyrics anywhere and you wondered what the heck was meant with the Whiter Shade of Pale…. :)

Hi Kiki , I’m glad you enjoyed my comment on Beth’s post , and of course I’ve been been an avid fan of Procol Harum since the song first came out 🎶

I needed teachers like you. When I was in Kindergarten, the nun passed out paper and finger paint for a Halloween art project. Before she got around to giving us instructions, I had painted my paper entirely orange. I was not praised for my initiative or curiosity. The shame did not traumatize me, wait, I still remember the incident. Thanks to you I finally have closure!

Your “white-on-white” painter is too young to appreciate the caring and open-minded teacher she has. Hopefully, one day she will.

This w/on/w kid was either deeply depressed (I highly doubt it) or a budding genius. At THAT age I‘d not think that white on white could be an option!!

a very exuberant child, so I’m going with the positive side on this one. often comes to school dressed up as a character from something, not with costumes, put clothes together that work
