happy it’s friday
and have everything i need for my *book club with friends tomorrow.
(*we love books, sometimes read the same ones, and enjoy sharing our real life stories)
on my way…

“it wasn’t until my fifth or sixth book where i realized i’m trying to do the same thing in every story I tell,
which is bring everybody together in the same room.”
-Kate dDiCamillo,
*kate is an american children’s fiction author. she has published over 25 novels, including Because of Winn-Dixie, The Tiger Rising, The Tale of Despereaux, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, The Magician’s Elephant, the Mercy Watson series, and Flora & Ulysses. John Newberry Medal winner.
while kate’s books are geared toward children and young adults, her books appeal to all ages. i find her writing incredibly beautiful and she is one of my favorite authors.

I have a mental picture of you heading out with your French Stick, and wine carrier. But I hope you are not driving after all that wine. :)
Best wishes, Pete.

actually Pete, it’s more in the sprit of the thing, I’m a one glass of wine person, so not to worry. and, the added bonus of me having an easy walk both there and home

I LOVE Kate Di Camillo. I just listened to the audio book of The Puppets of Spelhorst. Amazing story! Have a fun day with like minded friends. They are the best.

Oh Beth, the picture you paint! I must say in my over 12yrs of living in the Paris region, I‘ve never ever seen a baguette of that size
And neither did i ever see anybody with a 6 pack of wine bottles….. ‚we‘ are way more discerning. But the book club, on the other hand , is something i very much envy you for. Because I’m (soon was…) a crazed reader and would have loved to be in a book club, but never was in one for reasons unbeknownst to me. And a glass of red really belongs to a book club. You have two hands, one to carry the glass of wine and the other one to either hold the book or to gesticulate to make your point! ;)

Yes, just enough hands

I wasn’t aware of Kate Di Camillo, I need to investigate as my youngest granddaughter is book-crazy! As for that baguette – wow.

My kind of woman…whilst in Paris I lived on bread…and I’ll confess…a little wine…def less than six bottles. Have fun with the book club friends – bringing folks together. Love it! 🥰

Some day I will sit down to a sandwich that can double as a walking stick, Beth. Or perhaps read about one is a wonderful novel.

Did you read the story that went with that photo? She would walk around sharing the food and drink with others after the war. Feeding and spreading a little joy. Perhaps we could say that that is exactly what a good book does.

Marvelous concept. I’m reading “Sun House” by David James Duncan. I never want it to end. The writing puts me in awe. The characters have become family.
