coats ‘n kids go separate ways
as they hope for spring
on these sunny days.

“it’s spring fever. that is what the name of it is. and when you’ve got it,
you want -oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want,
but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!”

I was definitely feeling some spring fever this past week–and it seemed the wildlife around here was, too. 🙂 If anyone else is interested, the quotation comes from Tom Sawyer, Detective.

You’re welcome, Beth. I was curious, too, so I looked it up. I didn’t even know he had written sequels. 🙂

It was always a good day to shed the coat at recess, Beth. It was an always a bad day to get home from school and hear your mom say, where’s your coat?

it is a spring rite of passage, actually both parts of your answer are)

After a foot of snow in Denver this week, spring seems a pipe dream amid the slush, but I see that at least one daffodil survived, so there’s hope…

Love this and I’m betting you do as well, not having to help all those littles pile on extra layers for recess. I like this one to…No winter lasts forever, No spring loses its turn! :) Chris

I just wish those coats and jackets would make their way back home. At least I have plenty of retro ones of my own that my 12 year old granddaughter will wear when she loses hers.

I cannot tell you how many jackets and everything imaginable is in our lost and found, 99% from the big kids, and it always amazes me that kids really forget that they own a coat or boots in the dead of winter. low on the priority list I suppose. I wish I was their size, I would be so stylish, and warm.

We retrieved quite a few jackets from elementary schools. With our youngest grandchild, my wife conceded and started buying spares at Goodwill every time she went there with donations.

So true. A lot of people want to tear their houses apart and redo everything, clean everything, start planting too early. LOL Spring fever really makes people want to bloom. I love it.

Same thing at school, coats on to go outside, then off ten minutes later. Mark Twain said it well!

We have a wise saying here in England.
“Ne’er cast a clout, ’til May be out!” (Translation, don’t go out without a coat until the end of May)
Best wishes, Pete.
