how lucky am i that this was both for me?

soon to be retired
with who knows what
adventure still to come.

“if i thought i knew what was going to happen, it wouldn’t be worth doing. the challenge is how joyfully, with what sense of fun and adventure and playfulness, we will greet it. we don’t have to look for what the next thing will be.if experience is any judge, it’ll come flowing toward us like a river.”

I didn’t know I was retiring when Covid hit, but when things started rolling again, I was retired.
I’ve been having the time of my life, since. (once I ruled out running away from home and joining a band)
I bet you will, too!

Ditto what everyone else said here Beth…and more! Did you cry? I would of cried happy, sad, excited, overwhelmed, etc. tears of joy! Think of all the lives you’ve touched and made a difference all these years. Now it’s time for the big world out there to touch you and make a difference. Congratulations! Chris from Gig Harbor, Washington. If your travels ever take you to the PNW…let me know…I would love to meet you! :)

Thank you for your many years of service, Beth. Even though I’ve obviously never visited your classroom, I know you were an outstanding eductor. As always, you made it about the kids and never you. Humbleness is a totally underrated quality. One beautiful thing about retirement is you still run into your old students all the time, and they don’t forget.

Had such a laugh at your princess dress…. what a way to take ‚leave‘. if you haven‘t, like i did, married a much younger man, you‘ll never again need an alarm in the morning. i still do, many years ‚over‘ my retirement age, because i insist that we have breakfast together. But I also bet that you‘ll miss the kids terribly. they have been such a large part of your daily life. and they will miss you.
still: wishing you the happiest retirement, with or without princess garments and magic wands.
