how i imagined my first day of retirement
but alas
it’s getting my tires switched, finishing report cards, and running errands
but i did sleep in until almost six
so there’s hope for tomorrow….

agree to that quote. and let me warn you: you will only wonder on a daily basis How on Earth have i done all i did before…. AND had time to blog, etc.! but also, i feel REALLY sorry for the kiddos who won‘t have their wonderful teacher any more.

This is definitely my motto “my goal is no longer to get more done, but rather to have less to do.” And sometimes I achieve it [as in achieve doing less] but sometimes it escapes me. But it is a good direction to aim in :) X

yes, just a slowing down of each day, but I know it will not a be a linear process

I belong to a (computer forum) and their motto could/should be, “There’s No Such Thing as a Dumb Question.”
But I don’t do trial/error on the computer substructure!! But I ask a lot of questions.

I feel so sorry for all the children who won’t have you as teacher. But the amazing thing about being retired, is how much you have to do. Sometimes I wonder if I should go back to work for a rest. (I don’t wonder it for very long though!)

You still have some hangovers from your work, and the routine of the car stuff. Wait until you wake up one Monday morning with nothing at all planned, and just let the day drift over you peacefully. Then it starts to feel like a holiday, until you realise that the rest of your life will be like that Monday, and weekends no longer mean anything special. I think it’s great, some people find it much harder to adjust.
Best wishes, Pete.

Ah, those days when you take care of responsibilities. Boring stuff, but I feel better after they’re done. Here’s hoping you have adventures tomorrow, like tea time with cats 🌞 If so, please let us know what kind of tea they like. My guess is Earl Grey, but I could be way off the mark.

yes, I was already a bit resentful that I actually had to do something. ) and I do feel there will be space for a cat teatime.

From what I hear, you’ll have even more to do now that you don’t have to work (well, once the last bits are done, of course)

My goal when I retired was to not always know what day it is. Success! And there are days that seem busier than when I was working. The transition is a process and is, mostly, fun.

Whoa! It’s happening! That’s wonderful – it’s weird for a while and then you settle in and then branch out and then resettle and so it goes. You’re going to have fun, I know that much.

Happy retirement. My first couple of days summer have been an eye appointment, an oil change, and writing thank you notes. Five more years before I hang up the chalk. Enjoy, stay busy, take a nap, and keep blogging.

It will feel like a “vacation” or sorts until you’ve fully absorbed that your biggest daily responsibility is no longer your responsibility…forever and ever! I think it’s wise to do all of those things you need to get done while you’re still in your “time to make the donuts” cycle, because then, you will be able to appreciate that you have days of leisure. Welcome to retirement! Oh, and I like that quote!
