it’s a big decision, take your time.

national donut day is celebrated on the first friday of june. established by the salvation army in 1938 to honor the “donut lassies” — women who served donuts (originally a European delicacy) to hungry american soldiers duringWW I. once they returned home, american soldiers longed for the donuts they had overseas. they grew increasingly popular in the u.s., and americans have been loving donuts ever since.

  1. to me, donuts always were an American thing. I am surprised to learn that they originated in the UK. To me personally they are no big deal; but I have grown used to seeing them everywhere anywhere. Give me a choice of three excellent (sharp/tasty/well matured or softly created) cheeses anytime and you have a happy bunny. tks for the info; my life is so much richer now ;) ;)

  2. I love your quote (and I see what you did there). Also, your post just made me go into a deep rabbit hole of donut research at 6am. Who knew that donuts have such a deep history in almost every country! Fun fact: Canadians eat the most donuts in the world (per capita) and have the most donut shops in the world (per capita). There may be a donut in my near future…

  3. My favorite donuts of all time come from a small shop in the town where I grew up. I live in a different state now, but guess what? I happen to be visiting my hometown today, and I am only minutes away from that donut shop! What are the odds? I see extra reason why my favorite donuts should be on my agenda today! Thanks for letting me know.

  4. One of my colleagues acted like this day was Christmas and always brought several boxes. I love them but try to avoid them as much as possible.
