when you can’t find your hundred or so cars.

Standard

rolling sculpture car show
walked downtown to have lunch with my daughter and granddaughter
noticing a few cool cars
were slowly coming into town and parking on main street
interesting to see the mix
some new, some old, some not sure what they were
we guessed that more cars would arrive later for the show
imagine my surprise as i walked a different route home
just one street over
to see cars lined up as far as  the eye could see on both sides
ah, there they are
right behind us
 nothing gets by me
just another reason
why i chose to be a teacher
rather than a professional witness, detective, or spy.

  2. My small town holds an annual “muscle car” show down the main street. This is an “older person” town so the show is really popular. I always know the weekend that it’s happening even if I haven’t followed the news updates. You can hear those cars coming in from about 2 miles away on the highway. It also mostly means that unless you’ve gotten out early you’re likely trapped at home by cars and people :)

  3. loved this post! and laughed loud at the quote….
memories of one time we considered moving to CT for another job, HH rented a car to get around. When arriving at the airport, we got a fire-red insanely grand car, a gas guzzler like I never saw before. open roof, and it was basically only me who drove it (looking for accommodation IF the job would be what we wanted – it wasn’t). I felt like an imposterer…. made me also think of the time i lived in Toronto and our travels in Canada and the US, where we saw those amazing vehicles with real wooden panels at the side and curtains at the windows….
