such a lovely and delicate web was there to greet us
a welcoming art installation created by a spider
—
‘the bird a nest, the spider a web, man friendship.’
-william blake, poet
—
blake suggests that as birds create and live in nests, and spiders create and live in webs, so humans create and live in friendships. it suggests friendship is as complex, natural, and beautiful as the first two.

A beautiful web indeed, Beth. Such a pity that the spider that created it doesn’t have the same beauty.
Best wishes, Pete.

I’ve got a friend in a corner of my computer room. :( Up high. My computer table is blocking my way to even reach it with a broom. Right now I’m only worried about the friendly mosquitoes.

Spider webs are beautiful! And do a good job of managing the small insect population. I do agree friendships can get complex but hopefully not entangled in a sticky web! 😆

right! I see it more as a comforting place to be, in a nest, web, or friendship hopefully )

We have two beautiful webs right next to each other in the escallonia right next to where I park my truck. It’s become a daily ritual to say hello.

That is a stunning web. I agree that humans create and live in friendships. The amazing thing as we age is that the age of our friends matters not. I should also note that I’ve made many dear friends via blogging. I’ve had the joy of meeting many in person.

oh, you’re so right, Audrey, the ages and stages all fall by the wayside over time and we accept them where they are. yes, it’s a wonderful part of blogging –

While spiders don’t creep me out like they do many people, I am fascinated watching them as they spin their webs, catch their prey, and come out from hiding.
