Trashie Take Back Bag

If you’ve had a pile of clothes to donate sitting in the back of your car or closet for months (no judgment here), then the Trashie Take Back Bag is for you. You simply buy a bag for $20, fill it up with 15 pounds of clothes, shoes, accessories, swimwear, underwear, sheets, or towels (from any brand, in any condition), then download the free shipping label and mail it back via the U.S. Postal Service. In return, you’ll earn $30 in TrashieCash to spend on clothes, dining, entertainment, sporting goods, wellness, and more on Trashie.io.*

  1. i do like the idea but i worry even more that you (not you personally but the americans) throw their unwanted clothes in the trash cans. We don‘t need trashie because we either bring good stuff to a charity shop (2nd hand, but you give it for free) or you place it in special containers where clothes and shoes, towels and bedstuff gets sorted out professionally. when i looked at the 30$ ‚offers‘ i wasn‘t impressed either. it should really benefit ppl with stuff they might need and not more to eventually also fill skips. having said this, i hope it will become a much used ‚outlet‘.

  2. I have seen advertisements for this on social media. It’s been easy for me to donate to local nonprofit thrift stores, and it’s never been about getting something back for doing so. But I do agree that any way we keep anything out of the landfill is a good idea.

  3. That is very cool. And a wonderful solution which is way better than trashing the clothes.
We have special special collector bins in most towns (more than one in mine) where we can drop in our bags of clothes. We also have branches of La Renaissance (The Rebirth) in many towns where you can bring anything: books, furniture, small appliances like TVs, printers, etc. When I had to empty my mother-in-law’s appartment, we must have made twenty trips there!

  4. This sounds similiar to the online consignment shop I use called Thred Up. Fast fashion makes it too easy for people to replace their perfectly good clothing way more often than they should. Chris

  5. Love this – I’m always learning something new from you. The ‘clothes in the landfill’ nonsense is disturbing. Another way to fight back and repurpose, reuse – and encourage the behavior. 🥰
