level 11.

Standard

a few of the apple blossoms

spotting a tree-trimming crew

stood rapt for an hour

checking out the trucks

watching the crew

going up in the bucket

cutting the branches

picking up the leaves

wearing helmets

warning walkers and cars

and then-

they fired up

the chipper.

 like being at the circus

hearing the buzz

squealing

as they

watched the chips fly

into yet another truck

excitement level 11.

  1. This reminds me of my son, in his younger years, get so enraptured by the garbage truck as they empty the giant bins in our former condo residence. It was mesmerizing to him. Such a joyful innocence in these moments.

  2. One of our fondest memories is taking our first grandchild to watch the excavation and construction of a new shopping complex. We discovered her fascination while walking to the playground. Many times we never made it to the playground.

  3. Oh. My. Gosh. Those children are me two days ago when the trimmers were in our yard. The wood chipper was my favorite part. I don’t quite know why it’s so satisfying watching the branches go in and the wood chips shoot out the other end. I am such a child! Haha.
