  1. That’s life … mad as the mist and snow …
“Mad as the Mist and Snow” is a poem by William Butler Yeats. It contrasts the wild, passionate nature of human experience with the calm, inevitable progression of time and the universe. Yeats often explores themes of mysticism and the tension between the fleeting nature of life and the eternal elements of the natural world.

  2. my son wrote to me this morning: last yr very same situation, heavy snow, bitter cold 3rd wk of november, 4th wk warm temps (last yr up to 15°C) – and it sure looks to be nearly the same this year. I‘ll send you some pics of last Wednesday/Thursday to your email address….
we experienced snow like on your right pic when living in toronto in the seventies…. or sometimes but seldom here in switzerland! fascinating. nature always is surprising us.

  3. What a good juxtaposition. Did you or someone in your family take the picture on the right?

I couldn’t help noting another juxtaposition: the cold roundness in today’s first photograph with the warm roundness in yesterday’s photograph.

    • no, there are a lot of classic photos of that storm and this is one that really defined how it was. thanks for noticing the roundness contrast from the warm soup bowl the day before

  4. Those days of snows like the photo on the right are a thing of the past in my area. Heck, we still haven’t even had our first snowfall! I miss the days of lots of snow, to be honest. We must adapt to all of Mother Nature’s moods!
