When you look up the word “humanitarian”, his photo should be there. Jimmy Carter was truly a gift from God to our country, to the world.

A decent man who lived a good life. Unlike some other US presidents, he had international respect and was admired by non-Americans too.
Best wishes, Pete.

I was mid-read of Jonathon Alter’ biography of Carter when he passed; it is a look into a different type of politician, and a type of life lived that we could all learn from.

I’m going to read that book for sure. Yes he was an example to us all.

Jimmy Carter was the first president I voted for..not so much for political reasons as I was so young and didn’t know too much about them but because he was a kind, decent, caring man that I thought that’s what we needed in a leader..someone to model ourselves after and what the world needed at the time.
He was a great human being and oh what I would give now to have a president like him. Rest in peace with Rosalyn, Jimmy Carter. Chris

your instincts were correct, chris and yes to him and Rosalyn –

I think a person like Carter would be eaten alive in today’s Washington. But his record of service was much bigger than his four years in Washington. The world needs more people like him.

it would be extremely challenging to say the least. yes, his legacy was much greater than that and we sure do –

Beautiful post Beth. I like your last line. Nike used to tell us to “be like Mike” as in michael jordan. But I prefer your line to be like Jimmy Carter.

After his presidency, I did not hear much of him… which is not a bad sign for politicians. He always appeared to me so well-behaved, full of respect, and simply a quiet soul.

A rare mix of character and intelligence, with a bit of the common. I definitely admire his commitment to showing his faith, as well as the way he honored his wife.

a perfect description of him. you’ll probably like this quote from the pope, ‘when your president Carter and I met, it was not a president and hope talking it was two spiritual men meeting.’
