it was my annual day of getting my taxes done
really not sure
if this was a win or lose year for me
a hybrid year of working, retiring, one-offs, investments…
and I found myself once again with friendly judith
who I’ve gone to for years
I brought her favorite coffee and an energy bar
and settled in for a session at her desk
she has managed to work small miracles over the years
knowing exactly what to claim, how to claim, and the latest changes
even though I had some technical ‘glitches’
with me trying to download docs to her
we had lots of good laughs
and once again, somehow, at the end
I emerged a winner
here’s to you, judith
may you long use your magic math skills to help others.

When I was working, my tax was always deducted at source and I never once had to fill in tax returns. That was a great relief to me. Glad you got a good result, Beth.
Best wishes, Pete.

Everyone needs a Judith to help the path to tax time, Beth! Congrats on completing the process on your transition year. It’s a tricky one.

I love that picture! We haven’t done our own taxes for years, since we have a company so I have multiple returns to make out…I still spend hours and hours and hours every week just keeping things in order to send over to the Accountants…so much time and energy just to pay someone money!

We’re more last minute-ish people when it comes to taxes. We meet the deadline but only after our CPA gets around to us, which seems to be later rather than sooner.

I love that you have an annual ‘tax day’. LOL — I have an annual ‘avoid’ tax day – I just send it all to the accountant, reluctantly I might add, and hope for the best! I still have two and a half months before they must be submitted so… lots of time to procrastinate! :)
Congrats on the good outcome!

You’re early and fast. Good for you. Taxes are such a pain in the butt and it’s nice when you have help!
Snoopy’s letter is funny. Charlie Brown would probably have a hard time with his taxes.

I am a word, not a numbers, person, so I feel the same as you about tax time. I haven’t even started mine. I have a capable “Judith” also, although I just drop all my paperwork off with her and she works her magic. But there’s a lot for me to pull together for her.

Yay for Judith. Great tax people are a huge win. I’ve been going to the same guy since 2010, and he just got an assistant named Michelle who I’ve been going to for 3 years now, and they’re both amazing – no matter which one works on my taxes.
I trust them fully, and like you said – they always know what to claim, how to claim, and how they can throw in some extras.
I think good Tax people are angels. lol
