walking around the neighborhood
I discovered something that was new to me:
yard ponies
not something you see every day
or ever
in my case
they were quite big
seemed peaceful
a couple of them looked very tired.
—
“trotting together
we know our way,
through bright sun of morning
our cares, cast away;
our ponies fly over fields and streams,
working together,
weaving our dreams.

I have seen a lot of things in people’s gardens, but never ponies like those. 😊
Best wishes, Pete.

That’s a fun way to horse around in the yard! 😆 Some of them actually look quite real.

it was quite unexpected and fun to stumble upon. yes, they are quite realistic looking, if not for their size )

yes, and I literally did a double take! I love eccentric people and it didn’t seem like a child’s thing, so I assumed it was an adult’s yard art –

People come up with quite the yard eye-catchers, Beth, to make you go Whoa on your walk.

I’ve seen gnomes in neighbor’s yards but never ponies. Rather creative me thinks.

What a fabulous discovery! And love the poem you found to go with the sweet image. While the two rest, the four stand guard!

Are these quite small? I’ve not heard of yard ponies before and they appear small in the picture.

they were about 2 feet tall

I was the typical horse crazy little girl. I had piles of little plastic horses with cowboys and Indians. My yard would have looked like this. Only the horses were about 2 in tall.

We have yard elk. Big, brassy, and they, pretty much, do what they want.

Yard ponies who knew? When I was a kid, I always wanted a pony. My mom told me that our yard was too small. I knew she was lying!!!! I knew it. I knew it. Ha, ha.

These are a big thing in Portland. People secure them to old hitching post rings built into the sidewalks in front of their homes.

I needed to zoom in to see whether they were real or not. On my phone at first they looked like they might be.
